Terms of Service

1. Who can use Slangdunk

You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. We ask for your date of birth at signup to check this, and we may close accounts that we believe belong to someone younger.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password to yourself.

2. What you contribute

You keep ownership of the definitions, examples and video links you add. By posting them, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store, distribute and translate them as part of the service, including in search results and social previews.

Contributions are public and are shown next to your username. If that is not what you want, do not post them.

You confirm you have the right to post what you post. Do not paste in copyrighted text you do not own, and only link to videos that are publicly viewable on their original platform.

3. What you may not do

• Post content that harasses, threatens or targets a specific private individual
• Post content that is unlawful, or that sexualises minors in any way
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone
• Create multiple accounts, or coordinate with others, to inflate votes or points
• Post spam, advertising, or automated bulk submissions
• Attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service

4. Slang is documented, not endorsed

A slang dictionary necessarily records language that is crude, offensive, or derogatory towards groups of people. Recording how a word is used is not an endorsement of it, and a definition appearing here does not mean we agree with it.

That said, documenting a word and attacking a person are different things, and section 3 still applies.

5. Moderation

We can remove any contribution and suspend or close any account, at our discretion, including for breaking these terms.

You can delete your own definitions, examples and video links. Words themselves cannot be deleted by the person who added them once other people have contributed to the same word — at that point the page is no longer solely yours.

6. Points and rewards

Contributing earns points. Points are not money. They have no cash value, are not redeemable, cannot be transferred or sold, and can be adjusted or removed — for example, when the content they were awarded for is deleted, or where we find vote manipulation.

Any monetary figure the site displays alongside your points is an illustrative estimate of what points might be worth under a future rewards programme. It is not a balance, not a debt owed to you, and not a promise that such a programme will exist.

We may change how many points an action earns, or end the points system, at any time.

7. The service is provided as is

Slangdunk is provided without warranties of any kind. Definitions are written by members of the public and may be wrong, outdated, or misleading. Do not rely on them for anything consequential.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. If we make a significant change, we will make that visible on the site. Continuing to use Slangdunk after a change means you accept the updated terms.
