Privacy Policy

This explains what Slangdunk collects, why, and what you can do about it. It describes the service as it actually works today.
What we collect
When you create an account:
- Your email address — to sign you in and to send account emails
- Your password — stored only as a cryptographic hash, never in readable form
- Your date of birth — used to check the minimum age of 14. It is never shown publicly
- Your username — shown publicly next to everything you contribute
What you choose to add
- Profile details: display name, photo, short bio, and links to your social accounts. All of these are public
- Contributions: words, definitions, example sentences and video links, shown publicly with your username and the date
- Likes and dislikes: recorded against your account. Vote totals are public, but which way you voted is visible only to you
- Referrals: if you sign up using someone's referral code, we record that connection
What we collect automatically
Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs, which include IP addresses and browser information, for security and reliability. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal data.
The site stores small amounts of data in your browser to keep you signed in and to remember your language choice.
Why we can process this
To provide the service you signed up for: your account, your contributions, and attribution of your work to you.
To keep the platform usable: preventing spam, vote manipulation and abuse.
To meet the age requirement described in our Terms.
Who else is involved
We use these providers to run the service:
- Supabase — database, accounts and file storage. Your data is stored in their Seoul region
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery
- Resend — sending account emails such as confirmation links
- YouTube and TikTok — when a contributed video appears on a page, that clip is loaded from the original platform. YouTube embeds use its no-cookie mode, but once you press play, that platform receives a request from your browser and applies its own privacy policy
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. Server logs are kept for a short period as our providers rotate them.
Contributions may remain after an account is deleted, shown without a username, because other people have built on them — a word page is a shared record, not solely yours. Tell us if you want specific content removed and we will consider the request.
Your choices
To make any of these requests, contact hello@slangdunk.com.
- You can edit your display name, photo, bio and social links at any time from your profile
- You can delete your own definitions, examples and video links
- You can ask for a copy of your personal data, for corrections, or for your account and personal data to be deleted
Children
Slangdunk is not for anyone under 14. If you believe a child under 14 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will make that visible on the site.
